Justice Facility Dogs. La Belle Marielle

Kristal LeBlanc is the CEO of the Beauséjour Family Crisis Resource Centre located at the Courage Centre. She has been leading this dynamic and passionate team at the Centre since 2011. Kristal holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Applied Health Services Research from the University of Prince Edward Island. LeBlanc’s research, and subsequent publications, concentrate on the needs of older women experiencing intimate partner violence. From 2017 to 2019, Kristal worked with various community partners to embark on a $4.3M capital campaign to build the first Centre of excellence in trauma-informed practice for victims and perpetrators of crime. This 19,000 square foot facility brings together diverse partners from health, social services, and criminal justice all in one location. Armed with a passion to bring innovation to victims of crime in Southeast New Brunswick, LeBlanc worked with the Courthouse Dog Foundation and Justice Facility Dogs Canada to develop and implement the first Justice Facility Dog program in New Brunswick. Marielle is a 6-year-old standard poodle who is a graduate from the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides. To respond to the changing resulting from Covid-19, LeBlanc is working with her community partners to develop the first trauma-informed daycare in New Brunswick, and only the second in North America. The “Little Courageous” will be destined for children who have had a negative adverse event such as exposure to family violence. Kristal has been recognized for her work in community through various awards including a Woman of Distinction Award, Chamber of the Commerce Women of the Year President’s Award from the Chamber of Commerce of Cap-Acadie, Top 20 under 40, and was recently awarded a Rotary 101 Resilience Award. |

Conrad Landry began his career as a Paramedic in 1988. In 2001 he became a firefighter and is currently the Fire Chief, Director of the Emergency Management Organization and Director of Community Safety for the city of Moncton. Chief Landry received his Degree in Science and Master’s in Business Administration from University of Moncton and a Masters in Disaster and Emergency Management at Royal Roads University. Conrad has gained significant experience in emergency management as Incident Commander. These incidents include large structure fires, forest fires, floods, ice storms, snowstorms, hurricanes, major concerts, pandemic and refugee resettlement response. |

Moncton Airport

Courtney is the President and CEO of the Greater Moncton International Airport Authority. She joined the the Greater Moncton Roméo LeBlanc International Airport (YQM) in 2017 and has been an integral member of the YQM management team in the role of Director, Finance and Administration until May of 2022 when she became the airport’s first female President and CEO. She is responsible for airport operations and growth of YQM from the passenger, cargo and commercial perspectives. She is a disciplined and thoughtful leader with a strong understanding of the economic importance of Greater Moncton’s airport to the community it serves. Prior to joining Vantage and YQM, Courtney worked with the Atlantic Lottery Corporation, where she led internal audit, IT financial planning and performance, risk management and compliance efforts over a six-year period. She began her career with international assurance, tax and advisory firm Grant Thornton LLP in Fredericton, New Brunswick, and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and several professional designations as a Chartered Professional Accountant and a Certified Internal Auditor. Courtney also serves on the Board of the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Moncton. |

Senior Challenges

Cecile Cassista is executive director of the Coalition for Seniors and Nursing Home Residents’ Rights which she founded in 2014. She is also a councillor-at-large for the Town of Riverview.
A champion of her community of Riverview, Ms. Cassista sees her role as representing the interests and concerns of residents in areas such as immigration, affordable housing and senior care. In 2006, she co-founded the Seniors’ Roundtable for the Town of Riverview, which organizes the Year of the Older Person, a popular celebration that attracts many seniors from the Greater Moncton area.
The Coalition for Seniors and Nursing Home Residents’ Rights works to achieve and maintain affordable and accessible programs to enhance the quality of life for seniors and their families. Cecile puts her energy and enthusiasm into raising awareness of issues important to them, and particularly to those who reside in nursing homes and senior care facilities. |
