Greetings, Rotarians. There is a lot happening in our club and a lot to be involved with. Here is a snapshot:
1. Last Friday we had a very successful Lobster Party. Thank you to all who contributed to its success. The social committee was very well organized and the venue was top-notch. The rain, and the shellfish lobster, did not interfere with a good time.
2. Tomorrow, August 31st is the Rotary Charity Classic! See you there.
3. Sherry Mourant has circulated an information piece on the international committee's ongoings. Please read it to learn more about our club continuing to support clean drinking water to schools in Aruba. This aligns well with several of Rotary's 7 areas of focus. Please contact Sherry Mourant if you are able to help.
4. A thirty day month has 720 hours. Approximately one hour per month is all it takes to help out with the BGC Refundables Program in a BIG way. The roster of volunteers is continuing to grow. But there's room for more people. Please reach out to Nicholas O'Toole if you can lend a hand.
5. September means our work at Edith Cavell school and Forest Glen school will reconvene. The importance of these committees cannot be overstated: we're feeding children who might otherwise go without. These are great opportunities for fellowship through service.
LET'S ACHIEVE 100% MEMBER PARTICIPATION IN SERVICE PROJECTS. (There is no try.)
6. Looking ahead: the Rotary District 7815 Annual General Meeting will be held by Zoom on Tuesday September 19th, tentatively at 7:30 p.m. This will be the first D7815 AGM, so it may be a good one to attend (via Zoom). Please let me know if you are interested; I will send you the zoom link along with the agenda and draft D7815 budget.
See you tomorrow at the golf tournament!
